“One of the most challenging things about organizing events for students is the communication end of it. SignUpGenius really takes care of all of that.”

Peg Hodapp, Service Coordinator

Building a Culture of Service

At Benilde–St. Margaret’s School, service learning isn’t an occasional activity—it’s part of the culture. With students in grades 6–12 participating in ongoing volunteer opportunities, keeping everything organized could easily become overwhelming.

Peg Hodapp, who works as a theology teacher, campus minister, and the service learning coordinator, knows all about juggling multiple responsibilities. With more than 400 students involved in the volunteer corps, keeping everything organized requires a system that actually works.

Streamlining Day-to-Day Operations

Using SignupGenius, Peg’s workload becomes a lot more manageable. Students can browse opportunities, sign themselves up, and receive automatic confirmations and reminders - no back and forth emails, no last-minute confusion about who's showing up where.

“Kids know what to look for and are able to handle everything with great ease,” Peg says. “It does the work for us.”

For a school where staff are balancing lesson planning, mentoring, and extracurricular involvement. SignUpGenius helps ensure students stay engaged in service — without adding extra administrative work for teachers.

Making it Easy

When the administrative side runs smoothly, everyone wins. Students show up prepared, teachers have bandwidth to guide and mentor, and the school's commitment to service learning becomes something students actually want to participate in, and not just another requirement to check off.
