See how to share your sign upIf people keep asking you where the supply list is or how to join the meeting, the fix is to put the link on your sign up. With SignUpGenius, you can add clickable links to your sign up description, link a map to your event location, and send private links by email to the people who sign up. Most of these options work on the free plan.
You can add links in three places: the sign up description, the location field, and the emails people get after they sign up. The right spot depends on who should see the link. Anything on your sign up page is visible to everyone who has the sign up link. Emails reach only the people who signed up.
| Where the link goes | Who can see it | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Sign up description | Anyone who opens your sign up | Supply lists, wish lists, forms, and your group's website |
| Location field (map) | Anyone who opens your sign up | Directions to an in-person event or shift |
| Location field (Zoom) | Anyone who opens your sign up, plus confirmation and reminder emails | Virtual meetings, classes, and conferences |
| Custom confirmation email | Only people who sign up | Passcodes, private documents, and meeting details |
| Message to participants | Only the people you send it to | Updates and links you add after people sign up |
The description is the most common place to add a link. It sits at the top of your sign up, so people see it before they pick a slot. You can paste a full web address, or turn a few words into a live link.
A live link, also called a hyperlink, is text people can click to open a web page. Instead of a long web address, your sign up shows short words like “View the supply list” that take people right where they need to go.

Genius Tip
Write link text that says where the link goes, like "Download the permission slip" or "See the classroom wish list." People are more likely to click when they know what they'll get.
For in-person events, add your address to the location field and SignUpGenius creates a map link. Volunteers can tap it to get directions instead of texting you for the address.

If your event happens on Zoom, you can connect the meeting right in the location field. The Zoom link shows on your sign up, and it’s added to the confirmation and reminder emails people get.
If every date uses the same meeting, select all your dates and edit them at once instead of adding the ID one by one.

Genius Tip
Anyone with your sign up link can see the Zoom link. Set a passcode in Zoom, then send the passcode in a custom confirmation email so only the people who sign up can join.
Some links shouldn’t sit on a page anyone can open. Think meeting passcodes, gate codes, or a document with family contact info. Put those links in an email instead, so they go only to the people who signed up.
There are two ways to do it. A custom confirmation email sends your link the moment someone signs up, with no follow-up needed from you. Write your message, add the link the same way you would in the description, and it goes out on its own. Custom confirmations and reminders are included on upgraded plans.

Can I add links to my sign up on the free plan?
Yes. On the free plan, you can add live links to your sign up description, link a map to your location, and connect a Zoom meeting. [VERIFY] Custom confirmation emails come with upgraded plans. If you’re on the free plan, you can still send a message with your link to everyone who signed up.
How do I make a link live on SignUpGenius?
Highlight the words you want people to click in your sign up description. Then select the link button in the editor and paste the full web address, starting with https://. Save your changes and click the link on your live sign up to make sure it works.
Why isn’t the link on my sign up clickable?
Most often, the words weren’t highlighted before the link was added, so the text stayed plain. Highlight the text again and re-add the link. Also check that the web address starts with https:// and has no extra spaces. Then test it on your live sign up.
Can I add a link to a specific slot on my sign up?
The simplest way is to put the link in your sign up description and say which slot it goes with, like “Snack volunteers: see the approved snack list.” If the link is only for the people who sign up, add it to a custom confirmation email instead.
Can I put an Amazon wish list link on my sign up?
Yes. Add the wish list link to your sign up description so people can shop the list. If your group would rather pool money than buy items, you can collect payments right on the sign up, or use Group Gifts to collect contributions toward one gift.
How do I share my sign up link with my group?
Once your sign up is published, you can share it by email, text, social media, QR code, or a button on your website. SignUpGenius creates the link for you. The guide to sharing your sign up walks through each option.
